Photographs of Stage 12 from Yoxall to Alrewas

Town Hill is the start of Stage 12 - head towards the half-timbered house
Turn right between two houses into Brown's Lane
Continue straight ahead over the stile
Over the stile there is the start of a sunken green lane straight ahead
This used to be the main road from Yoxall to Kings Bromley in 1760
Go through the side gate half way up the hill
Near the top there are some steps up to a viewpoint called Jerusalem
There is an information shelter and distant views on a clear day
After returning to the green lane, take the left hand stile into the field
Continue to the far stile ahead, not to the right into Brown's Lane Wood
Pass the pond on your right, then head for the corner of the field
Go over the stile ...
... and head for the pylon in the distance
Go over the stile and along the grassy lane with hedges on either side
Cross over Meadow Lane and go over the stile into the field
Follow the hedge on the left then bear right to the clump of large oak trees
Now bear left to a lonely finger post and pass to the left of the tree ahead
And down a bank to the next stile and footbridge - take care if it's wet!
Go over the next stile and follow the path up between the young trees
There is a viewpoint on the right through Swarbourn Meadow Wood
Over the stile, through the gap opposite and turn left up the field
Follow the footpath along the edge of the field
Turn left into the woods
Out of the woods and across the field
Turn right and follow the road to Wychnor Park Country Club
Go through gateway and turn sharp left
Turn right around the wall
Straight on, then turn left down a grassy bank
Turn right down the bank
Turn left almost immediately
Through the kissing gate, then keep close to the hedge on the right
Head across the field to the woods
Straight on through Potters Meadow. Keep River Swarbourn on the right
Through kissing gate and diagonally left
Over the footbridge - if you can
Another tricky footbridge
Straight on across the track, through the gap opposite and then bear left
Kissing gate on to the canal towpath (from the dry side)
A long narrow bridge goes over the River Trent
Pass Alrewas Lock and moorings on the left
Turn left over the hump-back bridge
Then turn right into Post Office Road
Fox Lane is straight across Alrewas Main Street (shops to the left)
Left out of Fox Lane on to the A513
Straight on at the first island
Across the A38 bridge
Turn left at the next island
Follow the narrow footpath down the side of the slip road
Turn right after the wall into Croxall Road
Go over the level crossing and the NMA is 300m on the left
National Memorial Arboretum - journey's end!
